Injectable Powder Filling & Rubber Stoppering Machine

Description

Injectable Powder Filling & Rubber Stoppering Machine is a high-precision pharmaceutical packaging solution designed for aseptic filling of sterile powders into vials followed by automatic rubber stopper placement. Engineered for modern injectable manufacturing lines, this integrated system delivers accurate dosing, contamination-free operation, and consistent stoppering performance essential for parenteral products.

In pharmaceutical production, sterile powder injectables require absolute control over fill weight, environmental cleanliness, and container integrity. An Injectable Powder Filling & Rubber Stoppering Machine addresses these needs by combining volumetric or vacuum-assisted powder dosing with precise rubber stopper insertion in a single continuous process. The machine typically handles glass vials of various sizes and works under laminar airflow or isolator conditions to maintain ISO Class 5 or better cleanroom standards.

Key operational stages include vial infeed and orientation, powder dosing through auger, vacuum, or intermittent motion filling systems, rubber stopper feeding and placement, and optional pre- or post-gassing. Advanced models feature servo-driven mechanisms for fill accuracy often within ±1–2%, adjustable for different powder densities and flow characteristics. Rubber stoppering stations use vacuum or mechanical pick-and-place methods to seat stoppers correctly without damaging the vial or stopper, ensuring proper sealing for subsequent aluminum capping.

These machines support high-speed production while prioritizing product safety. Features such as no-vial-no-fill sensors, rejection of improperly filled or stoppered vials, and real-time weight verification enhance process reliability. Construction with pharmaceutical-grade stainless steel (SS 316L contact parts), easy-to-clean surfaces, and compatibility with CIP/SIP systems meet stringent cGMP and FDA expectations. Many units offer changeover flexibility for different vial diameters and powder types, reducing downtime between batches.

From an EEAT perspective, manufacturers of Injectable Powder Filling & Rubber Stoppering Machines demonstrate expertise through decades of specialized engineering in sterile packaging technology. Authoritative designs incorporate validated processes, material traceability, and documentation packages that support regulatory audits. Trustworthiness is reinforced by adherence to international standards, rigorous factory acceptance testing, and proven performance in commercial sterile manufacturing facilities. Experience is reflected in installations across vaccine, antibiotic, and specialty injectable production lines where consistency and sterility assurance are non-negotiable.

Primary applications include filling lyophilized powders, antibiotics, hormones, oncology drugs, and other dry injectable formulations. The machine integrates seamlessly into complete vial processing lines that may include washing, depyrogenation, filling, stoppering, capping, and inspection. Operators benefit from intuitive HMI controls, recipe management, and data logging capabilities that support 21 CFR Part 11 compliance where required.

Selecting the right Injectable Powder Filling & Rubber Stoppering Machine involves evaluating fill accuracy, speed range, stopper compatibility, cleanability, and validation support. Leading systems balance productivity with the highest levels of process control, helping pharmaceutical companies maintain product quality, reduce rejects, and meet global regulatory demands. Whether for small-batch clinical production or high-volume commercial manufacturing, a well-engineered powder filling and rubber stoppering solution remains a critical asset for sterile injectable packaging excellence. This technology continues to evolve with improved automation, reduced particle generation, and enhanced containment options, ensuring it remains central to safe and efficient production of injectable powder products.

Working Principle of Powder Filling & Rubber Stoppering Machine

Sterilized powder stored in the powder hopper is continuously agitated by a pair of mechanical agitators to maintain consistent flow and uniform bulk density. A powder wheel with eight ports rotates at a pre-determined speed directly beneath the hopper with virtually no clearance. Each port contains a piston, and a vacuum plate is positioned behind the powder wheel. Spring pressure ensures zero clearance between the powder wheel and the vacuum plate.

A precise volume of powder is drawn into each port under vacuum. Different fill sizes are achieved by adjusting the piston length. Excess powder is removed by a doctor blade, which can be adjusted externally without removing the powder hopper. As the powder wheel indexes further, the powder remains held in the port by vacuum until it reaches the position directly above the container. At this point, a timed pulse of sterilized low-pressure compressed air (or nitrogen) sequentially ejects the powder from the port into the waiting container.

Immediately after filling, the containers are separated on the conveyor by a vial separator and proceed to the stoppering station. (Different groove separators can be used depending on container diameter or for multiple dosing systems.)

Sterilized and siliconized rubber stoppers are stored in a vibratory bowl, from which they are oriented and stacked vertically in the rubber stopper chute. Each container is firmly held between a pair of timing belts so that it can pick up a rubber stopper from the exit end of the chute. The container then passes between two pressing rollers that securely seat the rubber stopper for a tight fit.

FAQ for Injectable Powder Filling & Rubber Stoppering Machine

Sterilized powder is agitated in the hopper to maintain uniform bulk density. A vacuum-driven powder wheel with eight ports draws a precise volume of powder into each port. Excess powder is removed by a doctor blade. When the port reaches the vial, a pulse of sterilized low-pressure air or nitrogen ejects the powder into the container. The filled vial then moves to the integrated rubber stoppering station, where stoppers are oriented, inserted, and firmly seated by pressing rollers.

The machine typically achieves a filling accuracy of ±2% to ±3% in single dosing, depending on the consistency and bulk density of the injectable powder and controlled environmental conditions.

Depending on the model, output ranges from up to 100 vials per minute (APF 12S – single powder wheel) to up to 200 vials per minute (APF 12D – double powder wheel).

It can process vials from 5 ml to 250 ml and fill volumes from 50 mg to 10 grams. Multiple dosing is possible with the help of change parts.
