Single Auger Dry Syrup Filling Machine

Description

Single Auger Dry Syrup Filling Machine is a specialized pharmaceutical packaging solution designed for accurate and efficient filling of dry syrup powders into bottles. Widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, this machine ensures precise dosing of antibiotic dry syrups, nutritional powders, and other free-flowing or semi-free-flowing powders while maintaining high standards of hygiene, consistency, and regulatory compliance.

The single auger dry syrup filling machine uses a precisely engineered auger screw to meter and dispense powder into containers. Driven by a servo motor or stepper motor, the auger rotates a controlled number of turns to deliver the exact fill weight required. This volumetric dosing method provides excellent accuracy—typically within ±1%—and works reliably with a wide range of powder characteristics, including free-flowing, slightly cohesive, or granular dry syrup formulations. Modern models incorporate load-cell feedback systems that continuously monitor fill weight and automatically adjust the auger rotation for consistent results. This closed-loop control minimizes product giveaway, reduces waste, and ensures every bottle meets the labeled dosage. The machine can handle bottle sizes commonly used for dry syrups (30 ml to 200 ml or larger) and supports quick changeovers through interchangeable auger tools and bottle-handling parts.

Constructed primarily from pharmaceutical-grade stainless steel (SS 316L for product contact parts and SS 304 for the frame), the single auger dry syrup filling machine features smooth, crevice-free surfaces that facilitate thorough cleaning and prevent cross-contamination. Many units include dust extraction systems or enclosed filling heads to control airborne particles and maintain a clean working environment. The machine operates at speeds typically ranging from 20 to 60 bottles per minute, depending on fill volume and bottle size, making it suitable for both medium-scale and high-volume production lines. An automatic bottle infeed conveyor, star-wheel or timing-screw indexing system, and synchronized filling head ensure smooth, continuous operation with minimal operator intervention. Optional features such as nitrogen flushing protect sensitive powders from moisture and oxidation, helping preserve product stability and shelf life.

Manufacturers of high-quality single auger dry syrup filling machines draw on extensive experience in pharmaceutical process equipment. These machines are engineered to meet cGMP, FDA, and other international regulatory requirements. They often come with comprehensive validation documentation (IQ/OQ/PQ), 21 CFR Part 11-compliant controls, and user-friendly HMI interfaces that support recipe management, audit trails, and electronic batch records. Reliable construction, precise servo control, and robust safety features—such as interlocked guards and emergency stops—contribute to long-term operational reliability. After-sales support, operator training, and readily available spare parts further reinforce the trustworthiness of the equipment.

By combining accurate auger dosing, hygienic design, and regulatory-ready engineering, a well-designed single auger dry syrup filling machine enables pharmaceutical manufacturers to achieve consistent product quality, higher productivity, and full compliance. Whether producing antibiotic dry syrups or specialized powder formulations, this machine remains a dependable solution for efficient and controlled dry powder filling operations.

Working Principle of Single Auger Dry Syrup Filling Machine

Incoming empty dry bottles are transferred from the infeed turntable and guided onto the moving conveyor belt, which advances them at the required speed. A filling head is mounted on the machine’s top plate. When a bottle arrives at the first filling station, it is securely held by the bottle holder. A bottle sensor immediately detects its presence and signals the magnetic clutch mounted on the auger shaft to begin rotating. The auger then dispenses the predetermined quantity of powder into the bottle. The exact number of auger rotations is pre-programmed and stored in the PLC control system. Once filling is complete, the bottle advances to the next operation.

A key advantage of this design is that the star-wheel bottle pickup system is directly synchronized with auger rotation. As a result, the bottle remains in position until the set powder fill volume has been fully delivered. Fully filled bottles are then transferred onto the outfeed conveyor and proceed to the capping station.

FAQ for Single Auger Dry Syrup Filling Machine

Empty bottles are fed via an infeed turntable onto a conveyor. When a bottle reaches the filling station, it is held in position and sensed by a bottle sensor. The sensor activates the auger, which rotates a pre-set number of times (controlled by PLC) to dispense the exact quantity of powder. After filling, the bottle moves to the outfeed conveyor for capping.

It is ideal for free-flowing and semi-free-flowing dry powders commonly used in dry syrup formulations, including antibiotic powders, nutritional supplements, and similar pharmaceutical products.

The machine typically achieves a fill accuracy of ±1% or better, thanks to precise servo/stepper motor control of the auger and PLC-based dosing settings.

Depending on bottle size and fill volume, the machine generally operates at speeds of 20 to 60 bottles per minute, making it suitable for medium-scale production lines.

Product-contact parts are made from pharmaceutical-grade stainless steel (SS 316L), while the machine frame is constructed from SS 304. This ensures excellent corrosion resistance, hygiene, and easy cleaning.
